Participants must be 15 or older. If younger curlers are interested, check out our Little Rocks Program!
All sessions cost $20 per person. New curlers only need to attend one Try Curling session. If you love your Try Curling experience, keep an eye out for our more in-depth Learn to Curl sessions in October 2025!
2025 Try Curling Dates and Times:
*All sessions are 90 minutes of on-ice time. After that session there will be time available for off-ice instruction and socializing.
All the equipment you need will be provided! We ask that you wear comfortable athletic clothes that don't shed fuzzy debris or restrict movement. You may want to consider wearing a hat and gloves because the ice house is a little chilly. Please bring a CLEAN pair of tennis shoes that are free from dirt or salt (we recommend carrying in this pair to not pick up anything on your way to the ice!) - this helps us keep our ice clean.

CURLING EXPERIENCES
During the curling season, SPCC offers on-ice curling instructional experiences. This allows people to come try the sport for a fee per participant. No prior curling experience is necessary.
Clubroom Use
The Clubroom may be used for a short (30 minute) gathering before or after any on-ice experience. Please see the description of that space below.
If your group would like extensive, exclusive access to the Clubroom or use of bar or kitchen facilities, you will need to pay the Clubroom rental fee in addition to the curling fee.
Equipment
We supply the brooms and the shoe sliders, but each participant must bring an extra, clean pair of gym shoes or something similar. Flat bottom sneakers work best, leather bottom shoes will not work. Street shoes are not allowed on the ice. Warm and loose fitting or stretchy lint-free clothing is recommended. The ice house is roughly 40 degrees.
Session Format
Curling sessions are scheduled for approximately 2 hours. Sessions include about 30 minutes of basic instruction followed by practice and game time. Volunteer instructors are provided to assist at a ratio of four curlers to one instructor. There is plenty of room for spectators if your group includes people who choose not to curl.
Deposit required to reserve the date.
Cost per participant
Public / Corporate: $40
Non-profit and Community organizations are eligible for a 50% Discount
Participant minimum: 8* Participant maximum: 32 (unless pre-approved by staff)
*Fewer participants may be accepted as long as 8 participants are paid for.
School Groups
School groups are welcomed at the discretion of the Events Coordinator considering club events and resources.
Cost per child (age 6 to 18): $5
School group Adult (chaperone, teacher): $5
Club Member
A dues-paying member of the club with ice privileges may bring guests for an informal demonstration of curling when ice is available at no cost. However, this is strictly to introduce curling to non-curlers. Beyond initial experience hourly ice usage and Facility Rental rates apply.
If there are beginner curlers involved, it is strongly suggested that there be a 4-1 student-instructor ratio. This is to prevent damage to the ice, as well as to ensure the safety of all participants.
The member is responsible for arranging adequate instruction, supervision, execution of waiver and compliance with all other Terms.
Ice Time for non-members
Ice time for non-members will be supported based on availability, assuring no conflict with other member activities. This may be for a member organized outing, practice for non-member high performance teammates or established curlers visiting the area.
Cost per guest: $10 per hour

We are pleased to announce that Hans Nielsen a graduate of Stevens Point Area Senior High has been awarded the 2022 scholarship of $1000. Hans will be attending Winona State University this year with a major in Business Administration.

The Stevens Point Curling Club (SPCC) is committed to teaching, developing, promoting the Olympic Sport, and encouraging the spirit of curling. This scholarship program aligns with the SPCC mission of serving youth in our community and is awarded to a graduating high school senior who has participated in the high school curling program and demonstrates leadership and involvement within the SPCC club. “Hans earned his 4th athletic letter this season and served as team captain. He could be counted on as a leader on and off the ice for the team, welcoming new athletes to the high school program and helping them to learn and improve their skills. Hans represents the SPCC and high school program well as he additionally competed at a U18 and Junior National level.”, Lori Kawleski, Stevens Point High Schools Curling Coach.

Funds for future scholarships are raised through hole sponsorship during the Stevens Point Curling Club’s Annual Golf Outing, scheduled for Monday, September 12, 2022 at the Stevens Point Country Club. The Sentry Curling Center is in the lower right-hand corner of the photo below (upper right in portrait view below). Parking is generally very limited on Maple Drive and will be ticketed if not available. Recommended overflow parking for the Junior Nationals event on Park Avenue and in the Event Parking space just north of the Hampton Inn.
Teams will be provided one(1) reserved parking space close to the Sentry Curling Center. Parking pass will be provided at team check-in, and must be displayed on dashboard. There is just enough room in this designated area for 1 vehicle per team.
There have been a number of questions about the Stevens Point Curling Club’s COVID protocols. As Omicron variant has become prevalent in our community, we are aware that a number of club members have tested positive for COVID over the past month. Given the pervasiveness of the variant in our community and the relatively low number of members impacted, it is not possible to attribute these cases to activities within our facility. However, the board would like to clarify our policies. Our objectives in establishing our policies include the following.
This is admittedly an imperfect and difficult balancing act, but one we feel is important to navigate for the continuity of our club.
We would also like to better define a process to provide Notice of individuals testing positive for COVID.
Good curling,
Board of Directors
COVID has impacted our lives in many ways. Curling is no different. Most curling clubs in the state are planning to open. We are planning to curl this season. We benefit from a wealth of good insights throughout the curling world on how to best adjust our sport to mitigate the risks associated with COVID.
Regardless of COVID-related adjustments, it is not possible to eliminate all risks of a COVID infection in any group activity. We expect and understand that some members will decide to forgo curling this year or maybe wait until something changes later in the year to make them more comfortable.
RETURN TO CURLING IN A COVID ENVIRONMENT
Introduction:
Over the year, the Stevens Point Curling Club Board of Directors has been carefully watching, weighing, and discussing how to safely and effectively return to curling this fall. Your Board of Directors considered all possibilities to ensure this year at our brand-new facility is successful, safe, and enjoyable for all.
Masks:
We want to provide a safe environment for curlers as well as our community. As recommended by the CDC, if you are vaccinated, you do not need to wear a mask while in our facility, though guidelines do recommend that you do. If you have not been vaccinated, you should wear a mask while in our facility.
We trust that you will make a safe and healthy choice for yourself and others.
Locker Rooms:
There are no immediate plans to limit access to the number of people allowed in the locker rooms, but if an outbreak does occur, this may be implemented. We recommend that members come to the club ‘prepared to curl’ (proper outerwear is worn) if able to prevent congestion in the locker rooms.
Game Play:
Waivers & Non-Compliance:
Each member shall be required to sign a waiver indicating that they agree to hold the club harmless if COVID-19 is contracted while at the facility. Additionally, members should agree to assist with proper contact tracing if they end up getting COVID-19 and have spent time at our facility. Finally, all members should understand that if a COVID-19 breakout occurs, the club will close for several days for proper sanitation. Club fees shouldn’t be reimbursed during this time.
If a member refuses to follow the set rules (enforced by the Board and the League Chairs), the Board and/or the League Chairs may eject that member from play for that night, or for the season if it continues to be an issue.
